How to get rid of Negative Thoughts and Feelings



In my last post (Understanding the Power of Mind), I discussed about the real power which our mind possesses. And it is clear that we need to think and imagine GOOD in order to make our life abundant with happiness and prosperity. And it’s very important to get rid of the negative feelings, emotions and thoughts. Because this is the main hurdle in ones journey of life. There are situations when we think that we have no other option than to get angry, or to feel bad. We keep on justifying our bad thinking and blaming situations, people and external things. And we think that this is natural. But there is a need to understand, that this belief system is very dangerous and wrong.

The First Step to eliminate negative thoughts is, we need to understand the importance of changing our focus from negative to positive, and to make our lives healthy, wealthy and happy. Because anger, feeling bad or creating negative is not our real nature. It's again going to produce the negative outcomes. We have come on this planet to enjoy the life, so lets understand how to do that.

If getting angry is natural, then every person should get angry to the same extent in same situation. Suppose you have a Boss in you Company or Office and he is very rude to everyone. When he shouts on 10 different people including you, will you all get the same amount of disappointment or anger? The right answer is that depends upon the person how he/she is perceiving. For someone it can be a bad day and feeling very bad and embarrassing about it. And for someone it may be, doesn't matter, Boss is always frustrated, let’s enjoy, why to spoil my mood.

The Second Step which we need to understand in order to create good thoughts is that YOUR feelings are in YOUR control. No one else can touch your mind, it is only you who has the authority. You have the freedom to choose what kind of response you should make. It’s true that external situation is not giving me the sadness or happiness. But it’s my response, my conversation with myself which creates my feelings. If I have developed a habit of thinking too much, overreacting in situations, it’s me who will create waste and negative thoughts and after some time it’s me who will start feeling heavy inside. So in short, external situation is just a stimulus to my inner thoughts. 

The Third Step in order to eliminate the negative thoughts is imagining the worst outcome and accept it. For example it the boss is very angry with you, your mind will start thinking very negative, and normally people justify that worry is natural. Now in this case, I need to think about the worst outcome for a while that can be, “Boss can dismiss me or stop my increment!” Yes, now accept it. Then you will realize that yes then you can find some another job. Once you accept the worst outcome your mind will relax. And you will find, that you are able to create very positive and your response to the situation will change. You will stop worrying and you will focus on the good side. Because you have already accepted your fear. Now the mind is open to create positive. Try this and post your experiences in the comment section below. :)
